About Ben Beattie Outdoors

Ben Beattie Outdoors operates out of Sioux Lookout in northwestern Ontario’s Sunset Country. Ben is a fishing guide and outdoor writer who guides on Lac Seul and area waterways in northwestern Ontario.

Originally from southern Ontario, Ben has a degree in Environmental Studies from the University of Waterloo. His love of fishing and hunting brought him to Sioux Lookout, where he lives with his wife and 2 sons.

Ben is a dedicated outdoorsman who is passionate about fishing and hunting. With famous Lac Seul in his backyard, the fishing possibilities are endless – from January through December.

In his 12th year guiding, Ben is dedicated to customer service and works hard every day to make sure his guests have the best possible experience on the water. From keeping a bend in the rods with walleye action to chasing trophy muskies, Ben does it all.

The Waters Ben Beattie Outdoors Serves

Ben guides out of Moosehorn Lodge in Sioux Lookout during the summer season. You would be hard pressed to find another town as geographically blessed for its fishing opportunities as Sioux Lookout is. Nestled in the heart of northwestern Ontario's Sunset Country, there are thousands of acres of pristine water that could keep a fisherman busy for many lifetimes. The 'Big Three' lakes are Lac Seul, Minnitaki and Vermilion, where the bulk of Ben's guiding takes place.

Sioux Lookout (and in turn, Ben Beattie Outdoors) is located 180 miles north of International Falls, MN. and 380km northwest of Thunder Bay, ON. It is a full-service community of 5,500 people.

Lac Seul

Famous Lac Seul is at the heart of the fishery. Experience world-class fishing for trophy muskie, walleye, northern pike and smallmouth bass.

Minnitaki Lake

Minnitaki Lake is a walleye factory that largely lives in the shadow of Lac Seul. Some of the best walleye fishing days every season happen on Minnitaki. Other species include smallmouth bass, northern pike and lake trout.

Vermilion Lake

'Big V' is another gem in our system. This clear water lake is home to lake trout, muskie, smallmouth bass and northern pike.
